Collaborating with Unmind to enhance their benefits program

Unmind is a workplace wellbeing platform on a mission to create mentally healthy workplaces.

They’ve partnered with some of the world’s biggest brands, including Uber, Major League Baseball, Disney and British Airways, to give over 2.5 million people the right support at the right time.

Using clinical, organisational and positive psychology, Unmind pinpoints wellbeing challenges in the workplace and empower the right people, with the right care, at the right time.

Why Unmind turned to financial wellbeing

When we are plagued by financial worries, our mental and physical health suffer, posing challenges to our productivity and performance in the workplace. It’s why many companies, such as Unmind, are investigating financial well-being solutions for their staff.

Unmind’s Senior Benefits and Payroll Manager, Amanda Kumm, says Unmind wanted to ensure they had a platform in place to support the financial wellbeing vision for their employees.

“We wanted to give our employees the tools and access to support their mental health,” Amanda explains. “We wanted to help make our employees’ goals a reality, and protect their financial future, by offering 1:1 coaching and guidance.”

Helping Unmind unlock financial support

MoneyHappy provides financial education, training and 1:1 coaching to help educate and inspire young professionals to thrive financially so they feel less stressed and happier in their job.

Matt Meffan, Unmind’s Regional Sales Lead says they wanted to work with MoneyHappy for this reason.

“Given that some of the team rely on sales commissions and performance bonuses, monthly payments can be irregular,” Matt explains. “It’s really helping them to plan responsibly around that and reduce their financial anxiety.”

The importance of individualised and holistic support

With support and guidance that’s tailored to individuals, MoneyHappy can meet your employees where they are now and help them navigate financial wellbeing needs all year long.

“We’ve had incredible feedback so far from the team on the platform, but particularly on the coaching sessions,” Matt says.

“The nature of our workforce is relatively early-career and balancing the adjustment to independence, and the more complex budget planning that comes with that, alongside accelerated earnings, was a key reason for deciding to partner with MoneyHappy to support our employees financial wellbeing.”

As a former financial planner, one of MoneyHappy’s co-founders knows that personalised support and guidance is the key to creating lasting behavioural change and relieving short term financial stress.

“Where people are in control of their money, they’re in control of their lives. We can help them make their salaries and wages go further each pay cycle, in a way that sets them up to enjoy their day to day lifestyle and get on track to what they are working to achieve in the first place,” said MoneyHappy co-founder Rebecca Maher.

Research shows that people who are on track to their financial goals are happier, more committed to their organisation and are less likely to experience mental health challenges than those who are financially stressed.* (Money & Mental Health Report, Heartward Strategic, 2022)

For that reason, financial wellbeing is a strategic imperative for all businesses and is fast becoming a top priority for companies who truly support the whole person who comes to work.
